Description

Duties:

1.     Define the technical bid for a project/program

-        Arbitrate orientations, secure feasibility, identify risks and develop technical scoping and constraints for stakeholders.

-        Develop innovations to be implemented and opt for standard solutions. Develop technical solutions in line with the customer’s needs.

-        Develop the conformity process and negotiate the technical bid in-house and with the customer.

 

2.     Design and development

-        Develop the system (SY) design, assimilating the requirements of the higher-order SY, transposing and allocating these to lower-order SYs while ensuring compliance with these requirements throughout the phases of the process.

-        Define the Technical and Standard Reference (TSR) applicable to the SY under your responsibility and ensure its application; develop the catalogue of design risks and associated risk mitigation plans.

-        Ensure the proper physical and functional integration of the SY within the Whole Warship and define actions to reduce risks and incorporate innovations into the solution.

-        Lead studies to define or secure an SY’s performances in the ship environment, design the SY and check the design of lower-order SYs, in keeping with program constraints, the industrial policy and the Technical and Standard Reference.

-        Develop documents defining the design and justifying the solution, manage the technical interface with the customer and partners, present difficulties encountered and associated solutions.

 

3.     Systems integration

-        Validate the SY integration, verification and validation strategy and manage the conformity process

-        Ensure the proper physical and functional integration of the SY with the next-higher level and interfacing systems, ensure compliance with the overall performance of the SY and sub-SYs, and compliance with the applicable TSR

-        Structure the management and coordination of technical interfaces between the major SYs and act as the technical guarantor during the IVVQ phase of the SY

 

4.     Technical coordination

-        Supervise, from a technical point of view, all internal and external contributors working on the scope of the SY by arbitrating, taking a technical lead in the teams’ work and monitoring SY and sub-SY reviews as the Design Authority.

-        Validate supplier consultation files with respect to technical aspects and decide on actions to be taken in case of non-compliance of specifications, performances and requirements.

-        Validate the processing of non-conformities impacting the performance of the SY, identify the applicable configuration and technically validate developments to the configuration.

Monitor the portfolio of technical risks and opportunities and maintain technical feedback at the level of the SY under your responsibility.

Responsibilities & Duties

You hold a Master’s degree in engineering with proven successful experience as a CS specialist (M/F) in the development of an effectively complex combat system.

Successful practical experience in a transversal technical field such as the integration of complex systems on a CS platform is a plus.

You have knowledge in the following areas:

-        Specialised knowledge in the field of combat systems and deterrent weapon systems

-        In-depth knowledge of ships (surface ships or submarines)

-        In-depth knowledge in systems engineering

-        In-depth knowledge of one of the technical areas of naval performance (safety, nuclear safety, security, pyrotechnic safety, acoustic discretion, RAM, weight and stability estimate, hydrodynamics, cybersecurity, military environment, etc.)

-        General knowledge of the group’s as well as the establishment’s OHSE policy and rules (including psychosocial risks)

 

Professional English (spoken, written and read) is essential. The ability to speak, read and write Flemish would be a plus.

 

You are organised and have proven leadership skills.

You can interact fairly with government authorities to facilitate industrial activities performed in government premises.

You are capable of integrating subcontracted studies into your activities and working in a multinational context.
