Job title

Electronic Warfare Specialist for NAVIRIS- M/F

Description

NAVIRIS is looking for a System Specialist for its Engineering Department, responsible for the technical management of the Electronic Warfare System (EWS) domain, mainly as part of the mid-life upgrade of the Italian and French Horizon Class frigates. The position will be based in Ollioules (83) or Genoa (Italy). Given the technical nature of the systems he/she will be responsible for, and the particular context of a major mid-life overhaul, the systems specialist we are looking for is an experienced engineer with a good grasp of the issues involved in designing, interfacing and integrating technically and industrially complex combat systems

The candidate will have proven knowledge of complex sub-systems integrated into the Combat System of 1st rank ships (architectures, functional and physical interfaces (CMS, Nav, CSPI, etc.) and performance of equipment integrated on-board). As EWS Installation Manager, you will be responsible for technical exchanges with the major suppliers of the system for which you will be responsible (monitoring the technical obligations of the specifications (including review of the documents produced (SSS, SSDD), interface documents (IRS, ICD), cross-cutting issues (EMC/EMI, Security, Cyber), physical integration (IGD), testing) as well as the cross-cutting security issues arising from this equipment (RadHaz)

In particular, within his area of responsibility, he will be involved in:

- The proper technical execution of the contract with the system supplier and its proper functional and technical integration (regular progress meetings, technical briefings and internal industry reviews)

- The production of Naviris documents, subject to customer acceptance

- The preparation and driving of technical reviews with customers, during which the supplier's design must be accepted

- The Analyses and evaluation of changes following the ECP process

In close collaboration with the other Naviris engineering specialists working on the project, the HRZ MLU EW System Engineer will have to perform systems engineering tasks and requirements management (including those not specified by the customer, ‘Industrial Requirements’ in the broad sense) and validate the works carried-out by the manufacturers producing the EWS systems

Controlling the configuration, carrying-out and arbitrating technical reviews and major hold points with the various stakeholders at key milestones, is essential and will be one of the responsibilities of the EWS specialist. Technical mastery, including the safety aspects of the systems integrated into the armed ship, and concern for the quality of the data produced, in particular the contractual deliverables to OCCAR, study deadlines and constructive relations with the manufacturers in charge of systems development are essential elements and will constitute the KPIs of the post

He or she will rely on members of the Naviris engineering team and other contributors:  Naval Group and Fincantieri but also Leonardo

Responsibilities & Duties

- Master's degree in engineering with at least 10 years' experience as a System Engineer or Architect of Complex Systems. Experience in the Air-Surface Warfare field would be a plus.

- Successful experience in the technical management of subcontracts and co-contracts for specific studies in a complex multinational context (SoW, Specs, Acceptance). Contract management will mainly be carried out by business managers with whom the EWS Specialist will be in close interaction.

- Exemplary and professional attitude towards demanding customers and ‘tier 1’ subcontractors

- Proven listening and leadership skills to ensure technical control of contributors to the successful development of the on-board integrated system.

- Ability to monitor, as main contractor, developments and tests at suppliers, integration platforms and shipyards.

- Professional English (speaking, writing and reading)

- Successful experience of working on the operational maintenance of combat ships would be a plus.
